Car history: |
Spectacular matching numbers 327/300hp/4 Speed/2 tops, AM/FM, P/W, P Disc Brakes (Webmaster:??). Exterior Color: Corvette Maroon. Interior: Black (Original and in incredible condition). Hardtop: Corvette Cordovan Maroon (Paint Code 992(W:??)) 3374 Corvette Cps & Convertibles in 68. Soft Top: Black (Original 1968 Soft Top). Check out the 2 short videos of myself & Rick taking this 68 Vette out for a little exercise It is a joy to drive. It was a nice day so we took the car for a few more miles and at 75mph the car runs AS NEW. I am not really into entering cars into Car shows, I have entered 2 cars on 2 separate occasions at Pebble Beach and did take a 1st Place in my class one time. However with very little time and money, I think this Corvette could achieve a Bloomington Gold Certification,or an NCRS Top Flight award, or possibly the coveted Triple Crown designation. These manuals and instructions will be included with the purchase of this 68 Corvette. 1968 Corvette owner's manual and clear plastic pouch, 1968 Corvette assembly manual, Instruction card on how to over-ride the windshield wipers and wiper doors and the headlamp over-ride control. Jacking instructions and posi-traction warning with instructions. The chassis itself did not change much from the 1967 model. The new hidden wipers and hidden headlights are vacuum operated instead of electrical. Door openers now use a push button to open and a push in handle to pull the door, this was only used on the 1968 model. The new auxilliary top for the convertible has a glass rear window. The new standard automatic was the 3-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic instead of the 2-speed PowerGlide used previously. A new fiber-optic monitoring system was added to the dash and Astro-Ventilation was added to improve the airflow in the cabin. The '68 Vette did not have the Sting Ray badging on it anywhere, it would return in '69 as Stingray. 1968 was also the year that Zora Arkus-Duntov was named Chief Engineer of the Corvette. The XP-755 concept car, also known as the Mako Shark, was designed by Larry Shinoda under the direction of General Motors Styling and Design head Bill Mitchel in 1961, as a concept for future Chevrolet Corvette production cars. A great deal of the Mako Shark Corvette can be seen in the design of the all new 1968 Corvette. I was privileged to know both Bill and Larry on a personal basis. Both were instrumental in keeping GM a world leader in auto production for many, many years. 39,686 miles from the odometer. BiN $37,295. Ended at $37,095. December 4, 2015. |
